The tires we ordered for Copperhead from Sunray Polyurethane Products came in today. They are made from an ultra high durometer polyurethane rubber bonded to an aluminum ring. Each weighs 2.35 lbs, which, when combined with the hub we need to make, is significantly heavier than the wheels we used last year, but they feel significantly stronger. The rubber is quite hard, and with the right wheel design (that will hopefully include a titanium frontplate) the wheels should prove to be indestructible. The biggest challenge now is not to design the wheels, but to compensate for the weight gain. We have two extra in case something happens in competition - it was far cheaper per tire to buy four than two.
In other news, I talked with Mrs. Fisher today, and she said that she's been busy, but will send out the P.O. for the motor brushes and caps before the end of the week. I need to call Robot Marketplace and ask if they will ship before receiving the P.O. - they've had the online order for over two weeks now, I believe.
I am thinking not next week, but the week after for our first meeting. I need to call Eddie because I know he wanted to come in to talk about the competition and the club, and talk to Dr. Skipper and find out when his room is available, and that will determine when the meeting will take place. If you are interested, please email me (guiswim7391@yahoo.com) and I will let you know when the meeting is for sure if I don't see you on campus.
And apparently, Mrs. Abrams has taken an interest in the club, so we need to report everything that was discussed in the meetings to her. If someone wants the job of recording everything that was said in the meeting, let me know. This is a GOOD thing... it means we are finally getting the attention of administration. :]

Having someone in the office as high up as Mrs. Abrams is definitely a GOOD THING because not only will we get more attention (squeaky wheel is the one that gets fixed), but if we keep doing good and stay on her good side we may even get some FUNDING.
GOOD THING = FUNDING = MONEY = MORE PARTS = BETTER OR MORE ROBOTS!!!
Hey there, nice blog! By the way...good luck with those wheels. Weights always a problem. I'll be here on an off to see what your doing.
good to hear from you, vince!
I'll be sure to keep everyone up to date on here. :]
Good luck at RPI.
