First Meeting is OFFICIALLY...

Okay. The first Engineering Club meeting is OFFICIALLY next tuesday, September 2nd, 6th period, NOT in Dr. Skipper's room. Dr. Skipper has a faculty meeting, so the meeting will be held in portable 5, Mr. Schweig's room. Don't worry, Dr. Skipper is still our class sponsor, and future meetings WILL be held in his room. I talked to Eddie a few days ago, and it doesn't look like he's going to be able to come and join us for any of our meetings. His college schedule just doesn't quite let him get down here before 3...
Dr. Skipper told me that the ideal meeting schedule for him is going to be 6th period on Tuesdays. This is the same as last year's schedule, and works for me. All of last year's members should know the routine too, so I am going to put it in writing *gasp* that our meeting schedule is going to be (almost) every Tuesday, 6th pd. Dr Skipper's room.
The first two meetings are intro meetings for ALL members (old members please come too). We will be playing video from last year's competition, and showing photos, and talking about the club. It will be kind of fun, I hope.

THE SECOND/THIRD MEETING IS MANDATORY for all members who wish to be a part of the club.

I will be taking attendance, and if you don't show, I will assume you aren't interested. And then, depending on the attendance for the first two meetings - if it's low, we'll continue intro stuff during the third meeting as well - the next meeting we'll start right up with engineering. I'm going to take it slow (not diving head-first into battlebots, per se), so old members PLEASE don't get impatient. If for some reason you are not going to be able to attend a meeting, please email me so I don't wait for you and waste time. I am going to run the club like a varsity sport. Three missed meetings (not including builds) and you won't be able to go to competition. An "oops, I forgot" isn't going to fly this year, because the club needs committed members in order to achieve its goals. It is also going to be somewhat class-like, so be prepared to learn, take notes, and even quizzes! (There are just certain things you NEED to know...)

on a different note, the motor brushes, caps, and insulators that I ordered came in today. If you don't know what they are, then you'll find out next week!

And anyone who went to Miami last year is going to get two cd's of photos and a printed 8x10 photo of the team. I am also going to see if the office wants to put an 8x10 of the team with our trophies in the display case... I think that will be a good legacy for Eddie and Vince - forever memorialized in a photo by a trophy in the front office. :]
