Carbon Fiber?

So we all know carbon fiber is light. And strong. But I didn't know it was strong enough for our purposes. Apparently it is, and would probably be a good candidate for Copperhead's battery mounts and possibly even the weapon motor mounts. I will discuss this at our first meeting. This is available at robot marketplace, 1x1 L-bracket for $32 a foot. It is 0.17 oz per inch, and is twice as strong as a CD - slightly thicker (0.060") and at least twice as rigid. However...

ATTENTION: Due to recent International carbon shortages, our carbon fiber products may take up to 14 days to manufacture. This is an industry-wide delay. Be assured that we are handling all orders as quickly as possible. Because of this shortage, we encourage you to place your order with plenty of lead-time. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Good idea, but keep in mind that when machining carbon fiber (drilling, cutting, etc.) lots of dust is produced that has a similar effect as fiberglass splinters, but much worse because it will be floating around in the air and could get in your throat and lungs through inhalation. We could, however, wear dust masks, have wet rags, and and work in a well ventilated area to make this much less dangerous.
Btw, first comment! :)

We do have dust masks, and there are plenty of ventilated places to work, so I wasn't too worried about that - other than the fact that neither my dad nor I have ever worked with carbon fiber... I have no idea how brittle it is or how well it machines. Supposedly you can cut really thin stuff with a good pair of scissors, but this stuff is well beyond that threshold... glad to get feedback from SOMEONE on my posts... :]

Carbon Fiber is extremely strong and light. It is used in most road bikes now a days and almost every rowing boat is made out of carbon fiber or is reinforced with carbon fiber for durability

I think that we should definitely charge extra for people who ask to not have people throw balloons at them at the fair. If we don't, we lose money because all the people who want to throw balloons have to wait until this baby gets off the pool.
